Apple has finally seen fit to release the first public beta of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 for the iPhone, which comes a week after the company seeded the third beta to developers. Like many users, if you have been waiting to download and install the public beta of iOS 18 on your handset, you can do so through the Settings app on your iPhone. Public beta testers will finally be able to test Apple’s latest software, which comes with a boatload of bells and whistles and includes AI features.

Following its past trends, Apple has now released the first beta of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 to the public, which can be downloaded quite easily on compatible iPhone and iPad devices. You can download the build through the Settings app on your iPhone and the process is the same for iPad as well. However, you are required to enroll your device into Apple’s public beta tester program.
Once you have enrolled your device into Apple’s public beta program, the update will be available on your device over-the-air. You can simply download the beta by navigating to the Settings app and heading over to General > Software Updates > Beta Updates > and then installing the relevant beta update on your iPhone by following the on-screen instructions.
Apple has made it very simple for developers as well as public beta testers to install the latest iOS 18 beta updates. The latest build comes with a handful of new additions for those who are testing iOS 18 for the first time. Those enrolled in the company’s beta program might find most of the features the same.
iOS 18 is possibly the biggest update Apple has released for the iPhone, and it is compatible with all iPhone models that are compatible with the current iOS 17 platform. iOS 18 comes with a redesigned Control Center with pages, making it easier for users to access their controls and manage them with ease. With the iOS 18 public beta, you will also be able to experience the new AI features, but the new utilities might not be available with the first beta. This means that Apple will release Apple Intelligence for the iPhone 15 Pro models later this year. The new Siri experience will be available even after that, with developer testing expected to begin in January 2025.
