Galaxy Z Fold 6 To See A Massive Price Hike, Possibly Due To Exclusive GenAI Features Making Their Way To The Series

One of the most hyped devices coming at the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 is Samsung’s sixth-generation fold series. Many reports regarding the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6 have emerged, with more coming in with the event being a few weeks away. Previously, it was suggested that the prices for the Fold 6 may remain unchanged or even go lower, but the recent leaks reveal the pricing for the book-style fold variant, and it is not what we expected.

The latest report unveils the Galaxy Z Fold 6 US pricing and the color options for the series

When it comes to its Fold lineup, Samsung has maintained a consistent stance with the pricing, especially in the last few years. The Fold 3 series and onward all have been priced at $1,799. The later series went with a downward cost trend as the original fold was available for $1,980 and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 got a slight price hike and was launched at $1,999.

According to a recent report by SmartPrix, the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s starting price for the 256GB base model is $1,899.99 in the US. Compared with the predecessor’s base variant, the new version is $100 more expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The bump is not limited to the 256GB storage but also reflects on the 512GB and 1TB storage variants.

This hefty cost for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 can take users by surprise, especially when other foldable phone companies are offering lower prices for their devices. This is only the US pricing, and we can hope that other markets will not follow the price increase pattern and position themselves differently. The Fold 6 is a tad more expensive than the Fold 5 because the Galaxy AI features are coming for the first time to a foldable device.

Besides the US pricing of the upcoming Fold series, we are also given a hint on the phone’s color range. The Fold 6 would be available in three colors: Navy, Silver Shadow, and Pink. Samsung will likely offer more color options specifically for the online store, much like it did in the past.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will weigh less than the previous model, 239 grams, while the Fold 5 was a bit heavier, 253 grams. Currently, Vivo Fold 3 Pro is said to be the lightest foldable, and Samsung, with its Fold 6, stands close. The foldable model would additionally be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and have a 7.6-inch inner display. It will sport a sleeker look with smaller hinges and rounded edges.
